Hi there, my name is Angela Eksteins. Welcome to you, I am so happy you’ve arrived here at Soul Art. I am a Transpersonal Art Therapist, Holistic Counsellor and Meditation Teacher. Stepping into the truth of who I am, has allowed me to draw from those skills to offer you Soul Art and the Sacred Journey Method. My deepest desire is for Soul Art to be a place where you can receive transformation, and soul growth through strengthening your own connection to your Higher Self.

I believe we all have the answers we need within us and a truth that guides us. Soul Art is a way for women everywhere to find it through the Sacred Journey Method of meditation, transpersonal art therapy and intuition.

If you are looking to gain more self-confidence and self-belief, and a deeper level of spiritual connection to the divine within you, then my friend, you are in the right place. Together, we can access the deeper level of clarity, insight and hopefully, self-love that your soul is longing for.

Your inner landscape is like no one else’s. It is vast and much of what you see is beyond words. Learning how to navigate it can begin to shift you into the realm of endless possibilities!

My professional bio

Angela Eksteins is a qualified Transpersonal Art Therapist, Meditation Teacher and Holistic Counsellor, and the Founder of Soul Art – a place where women can deepen their connection to self and soul using the powerful Sacred Journey Method. Angela is also the founder of Body Mind Art Therapy, where she works one-on-one with NDIS clients in a more traditional Transpersonal Art Therapy setting.

Angela holds an Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy from IKON Institute. IKON is a leading Registered Training Organisation (RTO) specialising in art therapy, approved by the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA).  ANZACATA is the peak professional body for creative arts therapists in the Asia-Pacific region. Transpersonal art therapy is a powerful tool at the core of Soul Art. Through the creative channel of art-making we can connect to the deepest parts of ourselves.

She also holds a Certificate in Holistic Counselling as well as a Certificate in Meditation Teaching. These qualifications have been enhanced through lived experience and the practice of ‘letting go.’ Angela’s own soul journey has seen her care for children, helping them to grow their creativity and connection to self through art, and meditation. It has also taken her to Africa – where she lived and worked for 12 months. As well as guided her to a Buddhist Retreat Centre for almost two years. Angela has a deep love of people and animals. At the same time, she believes there is nothing more invigorating than time with self. She is passionate about helping people strengthen that sacred connection with life and their Higher Self.

Some things you might not know about me...

I have always been a spiritual seeker. Walking a spiritual path has been part of my everyday life, even if it hasn’t always been my occupation. I have read countless books, learnt healing modalities, Reiki, Thought Field Therapy, Breathwork, and of course, meditation and holistic counselling. I lived and worked in a Buddhist Centre for two years and when I turned 40 I moved to Tanzania, Africa!

I love food – anyone who knows me can vouch for the fact that I’m ‘always hungry!’ Dark chocolate is ALWAYS in my fridge.

I crave regular solitude and absolutely need it to recharge my body, mind, and soul. Art and meditation for me are a spiritual practice and part of my everyday life. This practice has allowed some wonderous things to unfold in my life, including Soul Art.

How Soul Art bloomed

I am not a trained artist, but I have always loved expressing myself creatively. Creative expression has always given me a sense of release and relief, along with the feeling that my soul has the chance to speak.

When my marriage broke up years ago, I started painting. Although I wasn’t conscious of it at the time, what I was painting was a way to express myself and release the hurt inside. So even before I decided to become an Art Therapist, I knew the value in the creative process.

While running a self-esteem workshop for girls I decided to incorporate a little painting exercise at the end. I thought some creative prompts might be a nice thing for them to do. I found that the girls loved the art so much, and I saw a real transformation. I particularly remember one of the girls who was really reserved, grow so much in confidence through her creative expression. So, I asked myself, how can I implement creativity in my work? I started searching online and came across Art Therapy.

At that time, I was also taking some sketching classes. A few of us from the class were selling some of our sketches at a local Market. While sitting on my little mandala mat, a lady came up to me and said “you look like an art therapist.” Well, I was blown away! If that wasn’t the tap on the shoulder I needed, what was? So here I am 😊
